Accredited Professional Development Course
As part of our workforce support programme, LLUK and the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) are developing a specialist qualification for the teaching workforce, that will reflect the generic skills, knowledge and attributes required to deliver the Diploma (outlined in the Excellence in Supporting Applied Learning (2007) and the Training and Development Guidance (2007)).
A series of six Professional Development Units have been developed, and LLUK have commissioned four Higher Education Institutions to develop these units into an accredited professional development course.
The course will be trialed at the following institutions from October 2008: Canterbury Christ Church University, Northampton University, Sheffield Hallam University, and the University of Sunderland. The institutions will deliver the units through a variety of mechanisms, in an attempt to establish whether these are fit-for-purpose. Whilst the courses will differ in delivery method, all four will have the same focus on delivering the agreed core learning outcomes.
14-19 Professional Development Units
LLUK has developed a number of units of assessment which reflect six key skills and attributes:
- Personalised learning
- Assessment
- Generic learning skills
- Information, advice and guidance
- Working collaboratively
- Developing reflective practice.
These units of assessment have been scrutinised, rules of combination have been produced for them, and they are now submitted into the QCF.
