Community Education

Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) represents all employers, stakeholders and staff working in Community Education.

Community Education encompasses the lifelong range of learning needs, with a close integration in approach between work with children, young people and adults, and by providing educational support for community development.  Its emphasis is upon the provision of community based learning and development support for individuals and groups based around identified needs and issues.

Community Education was used in Scotland until 2003 to describe the combination of Adult Education, Community Development and Youth Work, which is now often referred to as Community Learning and Development. In England many Schools that were established as Community Schools have adopted a Community Education approach.
