LLUK and equality and diversity
Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) plays an active part in a range of influential groups within the sector, which promote equality and diversity.
- Workforce Race Advisory Group
The Workforce Race Advisory Group (WRAG) grew out of the Commission for Black Staff in Further Education as an advisory body for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). LLUK is a member of WRAG and provides the secretariat for WRAG on behalf of the sector.
- Forum on sexual orientation and gender identity in post school education
This forum, established in April 2007, brings together sector partners in order to co-ordinate their work on sexual orientation and gender identity. LLUK provides the secretariat for the Forum, which meets quaterly.
- Commission on Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning
This Commission aims to investigate and report on the current practices in the employment of disabled people. As an independent body it reports its findings to the public, the government, training providers, unions and lifelong learning employers and staff. The Commission first met in March 2007 and will run until January 2008. LLUK is an active member of this Commission.
- Women's Leadership Network
The Women's Leadership Network, supported by the Centre for Excellence in Leadership, was launched at the House of Lords on Thursday, 3 May 2007. The network is for women who hold or aspire to leadership roles in further education and is chaired by Sally Dicketts, Principal of Oxford and Cherwell Valley College. LLUK is a member of the network.
